Classic 500

Classic_action_rightThe Classic 500 is the latest incarnation of the Royal Enfield Bullet that has been in continuous production since 1949.

Until 2008 it was powered by a 4-speed iron-barrel motor, that was virtually unchanged from the 1949 design. European emissions regulations required some significant changes, electronic fuel injection and a catalytic converter in the exhaust, so the factory decided it was time for a complete overhaul of the model.

The result is the Classic 500 C5. Styled to evoke the ‘G2’ Bullet of the early 1950’s, its highly polished and detailed engine cases, solo saddle and two-tone paint scheme exude authentic charm. The unit construction engine may be new, but it retains the original bore & stroke so the exhaust note is a characteristic Bullet ‘thump’. Modern tyres on 18” wheels enhance road-holding and the front disc brake is a welcome addition too.

Motorcycle USA produced a short and informative video review, which you can watch here.
