Protect Your Passion: How to Spot Fake Watsonian Squire Websites
At Watsonian Squire, we’ve been building world-class sidecars since 1912. We pride ourselves on craftsmanship, heritage, and the trust we’ve built with the sidecar community over the last century.
Unfortunately, as our brand grows, so does the attention from online scammers. We have recently become aware of several fraudulent websites mimicking our design, using our photos, and claiming to sell Watsonian products at “too good to be true” prices.
To keep your hard-earned money safe, here is everything you need to know about shopping with us securely.
1. Check the URL (The Address Bar)
There is only one official website for Watsonian Squire. Before you click or browse, always check that the web address is:
You can also find our American partner at https://www.watsoniansquireusa.com/
If the URL ends in .net, .shop, .store, or contains extra words like “discount-watsonian,” it is a scam.
We only have one phone number – 01386 700907. We are available to talk from 08:30 to 17:00 GMT Monday to Friday.
2. We Never Take Payments Online for Sidecars
This is the biggest red flag to watch out for. While we have a small online shop for clothing and minor accessories, we will never ask you to pay for a sidecar or a deposit via an automated online checkout.
-
Scam Sites: Will ask you to add a sidecar to a “cart” and pay via credit card or crypto immediately.
-
The Real Watsonian: We believe in a personal touch. To order a sidecar, you must speak with our team. We handle deposits and final payments through secure, direct methods (like bank transfers or in-person payments) only after we’ve discussed your specific motorcycle and requirements.
3. Look for the “Unbelievable” Price
Building a sidecar is a labour-intensive process involving high-quality fibreglass work, steel chassis construction, and precision upholstery. If a website is offering a brand-new Watsonian sidecar for a fraction of the market price, it is a fraudulent listing designed to steal your deposit.
4. Social Media
There are also fake accounts on social media. Our official pages can be found at:
- Facebook WatsonianSidecars
- Instagram @watsonian_sidecars
What to do if you find a fake site
If you encounter a website you suspect is fraudulent, please do not enter any personal or financial information. 1. Close the tab immediately.
2. Report it to us by calling us on 01386 700907 or emailing sidecars@watsonian-squire.com.
3. Check our official social media channels for verified links.
Stay safe out there. We want to see you on the road with a genuine Watsonian, not dealing with the headache of a digital scam.
Thank you for taking time to read this warning. As always, you are welcome to call and speak to us or, better still, come and visit our factory in the North Cotswolds to see where the magic happens.
